Abu Dhabi Hosts the Zayed National Museum Forum

The Zayed National Museum, in collaboration with the Soviet Union of Abu Dhabi, will today host in the Diwan of the President a session of the first meeting of the Zayed National Museum under the title "The Role of the Zayed National Museum in Preserving Marine Heritage: the Maqan Boat Project" at Al Manhal Majlis in Abu Dhabi. The session will be part of the program for the meeting of the Zayed National Museum, aimed at establishing ongoing communication and interaction with local communities in Abu Dhabi.

The head of the curatorial department of the Zayed National Museum, Mrs. Moza Matar Al Kahlaif, and the researcher at the Zayed National Museum, Aisha Al Mansouri, will participate in the session, as well as the boat builder Marwan Al Marzuki. Three speakers will participate in the session, organized at Al Manhal Majlis.

The session will present a comprehensive journey through discussions with project guests, the Maqan Boat project, inspired by the bronze age boats that once sailed the waters of the Arabian Gulf, and its role in understanding the history of ancient seafaring and its practices in the United Arab Emirates. This initiative provides the Zayed National Museum with the opportunity to authentically highlight the heritage of the Emirates and strengthen its position as a cultural and historical site representing Emirati society.

The Maqan Boat project, presented at the Zayed National Museum, serves as a platform for the first research partnership with Zayed University and New York University in Abu Dhabi, researching achievements in the field of traditional boat construction techniques and their liveliness, especially considering that boats and vessels provided early inhabitants of the region with opportunities to enhance their connections with the surrounding world.
